體育資訊7月3日報道宣 2008年的今天，老板克萊-本內特與西雅圖市達成7500萬美元的和解協議，將超音速搬遷到俄克拉荷馬市，最終更名為雷霆。
2005-06賽季結束后，超音速被賣給俄克拉荷馬的一個投資集團，本內特表達了將球隊遷往家鄉俄城的愿望，宣稱10年前剛翻修過的鑰匙球館太老需要被替換，2006-07賽季本內特向西雅圖市發出最后通牒，稱如果在2007年10月31日前沒能做出建設新球館的計劃將遷走球隊。
最終在經過談判后，本內特與西雅圖市達成協議，將球隊原有的名字和顏色都留給西雅圖，以便有朝一日該城市的新球隊可以使用，同時為俄城帶來了一支自己的球隊，取名為雷霆。
本賽季，雷霆在總決賽中以總比分4-3擊敗步行者奪得總冠軍。
