湖人的新老板馬克-沃爾特是個體育投資狂魔，在收購湖人之前，除了是洛杉磯道奇的老板，他還擁有WNBA球隊洛杉磯火花1/6股份，還擁有英超切爾西母公司BlueCo12.5%的股份，BlueCo還持有法甲的足球隊斯特拉斯堡。
