周琦1996年1月16日出生于河南省新鄉(xiāng)市，2014年1月他加盟新疆隊(duì)，征戰(zhàn)CBA聯(lián)賽。2016年6月24日，周琦在NBA選秀大會(huì)上以第二輪43順位被休斯敦火箭隊(duì)選中。
2017年4月7日，周琦幫助新疆男籃以總分4-0擊敗廣東男籃，奪得2016-17賽季CBA聯(lián)賽總冠軍，他也憑借出色的發(fā)揮榮膺了當(dāng)賽季CBA年度最佳防守球員。同年7月8日，正式簽約休斯敦火箭隊(duì)，成為繼姚明之后第二位效力休斯敦球隊(duì)的中國(guó)球員。2018年12月18日，被火箭隊(duì)裁掉。
2019年8月14日，周琦重回新疆隊(duì)，并在2019-20賽季成為CBA最佳防守球員、入選最佳陣容二陣。2020-21賽季，周琦入選CBA最佳陣容一陣。2021年8月，周琦宣布退出2021-22賽季的CBA聯(lián)賽。 2023年8月18日，中國(guó)籃協(xié)官宣，周琦加入廣東宏遠(yuǎn)籃球俱樂(lè)部。2024年8月29日，周琦正式加入CBA北京首鋼男籃。
本賽季至今，周琦出戰(zhàn)11場(chǎng)比賽，場(chǎng)均24.5分鐘，得到12.5分6.9籃板1.8助攻1.1搶斷1.9蓋帽，三項(xiàng)命中率為53.8/52.6/54%。
